Being the eldest of three sons of the leader of the Fūma, Koutaro is the next in line to become the leader of the clan. Koutaro is the only child of the leader's legitimate wife, while his two siblings are children of concubines. After all, his mother was the one ranked as the strongest kunoichi within the clan; followed by the two concubines who were ranked second and third. An odd practice, but it is the clan's way to ensure that future generations will possess stronger fighters while combining the bloodlines of the strongest fighters. Yet this is not all which the clan relies on to ensure their strength. In addition, there is also the initiation ritual, where a child of Fūma truly becomes a warrior of the clan.
This purpose of this ritual is to grant one who is to become a true member of Fūma the powers of the demon the founders of the clan formed a contract with. The ritual commences with the initiate taking another person's life for the first time. This is meant as a symbol of their commitment to the clan; an oath to renounce their humanity and accept the demon's power. If their resolve is deemed worthy by the demon, they are granted its power which causes their hair to turn white afterwards. But if there is hesitation in their mind and hearts, they are denied the demon power and the color of their hair fails to change entirely white. In this case they are executed for being failures; although on rare occasions failures have been exiled instead of executed.
The position of future heir set Koutaro in a spot where he was to receive an even more rigorous and intense training regime than his younger siblings. There was no other option for him but to be strong. However, it was not difficult for him to prove that he had the intellect and strength to become the next leader. Therefore Koutaro was not only the first of the three to undergo the ritual for being infused with the power of the demon but also had to carry it out at a much younger age than either of them did.
Despite any of the small inconveniences with the little twisted and sadistic personality he had developed through the years. Out of the three sons, Koutaro is the only one with the capabilities to excel in both direct confrontation and stealth. Although he is still young and not yet ready to take his father's role. However, there is no doubt that he is well underway to reach that point — perhaps in another decade or so.
Personality wise, it is normal for Koutaro to hide his true nature behind a facade of kindness. A stranger might consider him to be a passive and gentle young man with a caring demeanor; but those who have been close to him long enough are well aware of his sadistic, cunning, calculative and mischievous nature. Certainly, he is in no way foolhardy. While he does not exactly avoid confrontation, he certainly does not get involved with any and every challenge issued. More so if this challenge comes from someone he is certain is weaker than himself.
Sei [Passive] — Koutaro has a 35 ft radius spheric field around himself which is filled with a very thin layer of his own chi. This layer is so thin that its presence is extremely difficult to detect, but for Koutaro it functions as a sonar of sorts. Everything which the chi touches creates a three dimensional map in Koutaro's mind that allows him to know where everything and anyone within this field is located. The sensitivity of this layer of chi is such that Koutaro is even capable of sensing the breathing of those within the field, but this does not mean the field is limited to physical objects. This skill is normally active by default, but deactivating it is possible. When deactivated this causes a vacuum effect that absorbs all his chi outside back into his body.
Dou — Activating this ability causes his muscles, bones and joints to be infused with chi, which increases his speed and defense by 50 points. However, using this ability with its full effect means that Sei must be deactivated, otherwise there will only be 25 point increase to his speed and defense stas for a duration of three posts only. Repeated activation and deactivation of this ability is not possible as every time it is deactivated it leaves Koutaro's body with painful side effects. Because of this, he can only activate it a maximum of 2 times without suffering crippling side effects. If within the span of 12 hours this skill is activated four times, once it is deactivated that fourth time it will leave Koutaro immobile and bed ridden for a few days.
Kusari-Gama [Weapon Example] — Koutaro infuses his chi into his weapon so that he can guide its trajectory by will in a telekinetic-like manner. The most common manner in which he does this, is by infusing his chi into the chain of his double sickle; this allows manipulation of where and how the weapon moves, but also helps to fortify the weapon's hardiness. This ability also allows him to channel his chi through obstacles and make it "explode" in order to cause special damage.
