 A kind Yokai who befriended Aya at the beginning of her travels. Aya gave him her hand painted Konotori fan as a token of their first meeting. Since then, the two have kept deep affections for one another, bonding at the Ryokan over the years.

Botan is a guest at the Kogarashi Ryokan and has been kind to Aya since they first met. He gave her a blue agate comb, that has little blue birds carved into it, as a gift.

A Kitsune DaiYoukai that Aya met in the woods at roughly the same time as Hinoko. The owner of the Kogarashi Ryokan, Aya opted to work at his inn, and has kept herself hidden there since leaving home. After some time and drama, Aya eventually ended up pregnant by the fox. She gave birth to a girl named Kasumi, and shortly after that, became pregnant again with her son Hinoko.

History

Eldest daughter to the Daimyo charged with Sapporo, the northern lands of Japan. Aya has lived most of her life nuzzled into the Teine mountain area. Far from the capital and politics of her fathers world. However, every two years her family would have to move back to the capital on the Shogun's orders. His way of keeping watch over the damiyo families, and keeping them from raising up against his orders. Aya lives a lavished life, but was kept from being spoiled by her mother. Aya had to remember, she was a noblemen's daughter, not a princess. Even with the forced visits to the Shogun's city, Aya learned to enjoy life despite having strict rules placed over her. As the eldest daughter, she awaits engagement. More or less to a man she would never really love. Mild in nature and docile in appearance, she obey's her fathers ever command, like a good child is brought up to do. Unable to meet anyone's eyes, she is often found looking down dreamily into a cup of tea. Aya possess a adventurer's spirit, but in the age she live's in, is unable to do as she pleases. Often having samurai escourts for protection against Ronin and whatever else may come into contact with the young lady. The number of guards is alway kept at a count of eight, no matter where she is going. Along with these guards is her nurse, who helped raise her as a baby. Every child in her family has a different nurse, totaling five nurses for the five children. Aya has yet to be betroth to anyone as of yet. She feels herself rather plain and homely looking, due to being raised to believe such so she would not become vain or wicked.
The Tekkai's Yashiki is located close to that of a Fukurou Youkai's own home. Otherwise known as the Lord of the Northern lands of Japan. The Youkai do not account in the human rank system and are above it. Though she herself as never met the fukurou, she had heard of him. Many romance tales from her grandmother, and powerful warrior stories from her grandfather. Aya has always loved owls, so the fukurou has always been a creature she's longed to see. Her father says day dreaming will turn her brain to paste, but she still dreams. The Tekkai family has long served under Jomeimaru and the Owl Youkai clan, and views the animals themselves as sacred beings to be revered with respect. Though her father is well aware of the other clans like the InuGami, Kittsunes and Tengu's, it is rare they ever encounter them with the decreased numbers in the clans. Only the Fukurou clan seems to be touch and go with contact to the Tekkai..
