hen the Grand Mother created Valeven, a semi-developed planet, she also created all the deities, Forerunners, and creatures that would live there. She also created the six Dragon Elders that would become guardians of the different territories upon the continent of Edenfell. Lira'thae was the youngest of all the Elders born. The Wind Dragon was set in charge of a territory of mountains, her own brood, and became the guardian of the skies.

However, at one point the Fire Dragon Elder, Mael'andra, had plotted to overthrow the Forerunners, the overseers of the mainland. Mael'andra, with the Dark Dragon Elder, Enigma, sought to ally themselves with the other Dragon Elders. Lira'thae automatically declined, and both Mael'andra and Enigma proceeded to destroy half of the Wind Dragon's eggs. Furious, but having no other choice, Lira'thae finally agreed to aid the two other Elders in their dastardly plans.

Since the Light Dragon Elder, Kaelen, was protected by the Forerunners within their tower, Mael'andra and Enigma were unable to reach him. The Water Dragon Elder, Rae'dia, was also coerced into joining with the Dark and Fire Elders -- Terrance, the Earth Elder, burrowed deep underground where the duo couldn't reach him and his small brood. Despite this, Mael'andra and Enigma sought to succeed, despite the odds.

Edenfell often calls the bloody battle "The War of the Elders", even though the so-called war didn't last very long. For two weeks, the dragons and the Forerunners fought amongst one another. In the end, Mael'andra and Enigma both had their broods completely wiped out as punishment for their uprising. They had blinded themselves into wanting control over the world, and refused to see the dangers in trifling with the Chosen of the Grand Mother.

Fortunately for Rae'dia and Lira'thae, the Forerunners learned of the coercion imposed upon the two and dropped most charges against them. Tired, wounded, and heart-broken from losing many of her children as well as her consort, Lira'thae departed back to her home to continue watching over the mountains.

(Note: Lira'thae is NOT just tethered to this setting. I am most certainly not past playing her in a more generic fantasy setting. Hell, I could even mold her story to fit the Warcraft universe if I so wanted to. She's a very flexible character, so I can change her to fit multiple plots.)
